Annual English Play 2024
Fools took over the Stage
The Department of English (College) staged Neil Simon’s spectacular comedy “Fools” as the annual English play. The story revolves around Ethan who is an idealistic school teacher and has been recently appointed to teach Sophia in a remote village of Kopikat. However, it is not a village we are accustomed of, each and every inhabitant of the village is a fool because of the curse put on the people two hundred years ago. Curse can be lifted if Sophia becomes educated or she marries someone. Ethan vainly sets out to educate her in hope to lift the curse but winds up falling in love with Sophia. He is challenged by the villain of the play and he only has twenty-four hours to educate Sophia or become a fool like others. He determines to win Sophia and bring the curse to an end and hence begins the hilarious adventure of Ethan. Brilliant performances of the intermediate students, an intriguing plot, amusing dialogues and eye-catching sets made the play a spectacular success. The actors succeeded in entertaining the audience. FCCU’s Rector Dr. Jonathan Addleton, Vice Rector (College) Dr. Ivan Suneel, many faculty members and a number of esteemed guests graced the occasion by their presence. The play was directed by Mr. Mohsin and Co-directed by Ms. Mehak Waheed and Mr. Nauman Ahmad.
