Dept of History & PK Studies Organizes Trip to Swat Valley
The Department of History and Pakistan Studies organized an educational trip to the popular and picturesque Swat Valley. 52 second-year college escorted by faculty members from the department visited the Swat Valley from January 23 – 26. The students thoroughly enjoyed the excursion, visiting Malam Jabba and Kalam Forest. Apart from the fun in the snow the students went on chairlifts and enjoyed the scrumptious northern cuisine and bonfires.
The Pakistan Studies students interacted with the local community and experienced the culture and wide range of traditions of the northern region. The exploration of natural resources, wildlife, and Gandhara Tradition of the region was also part of the trip as Swat has been the center of early Buddhist thought and the Gandhara Kingdom; the region is embellished with remnants from that era. The students greatly appreciated the initiative taken by the Department of History and Pakistan Studies and look forward to more opportunities like these which are a great learning experience and provide a welcome change from regular classes.
