Mr Mohsin participates in Graduate Seminar Series
Graduate Seminar Series is an excellent initiative taken by the Department of English under the enthusiastic and energetic supervision of the Chairperson, Dr Kamal ud Din. The purpose of this Seminar is to invite National and International Scholars to acquaint FCCU students with contemporary debates and discussions.
On Friday, 22nd November, 2019, a book talk was organized by the Coordinator & Assistant Professor, Ms Nadia Iftikhar, chaired by the chairperson of English Department, Dr. Kamal Ud Din and Vice Rector Intermediate, Dr Ivan Suneel. The purpose of the talk was to discuss Mr Mohsin Manzoor’s recently published book of short stories Shades of Imagination. The author Mr Mohsin is the part of the English faculty at Intermediate section.
The program began with a formal introduction of the panel which consisted of Ms Nadia Iftikhar and Ms Maheen Zia. A general commentary was presented by the panelists so the audience could develop a basic understanding of the stories. The author was asked to shed light on the fact that what audience did he keep in mind while writing the book. Mr Mohsin came up with quite an unpredictable answer that he did not have a particular class of readers in his mind; he wrote it for humans and for humanity. He elaborated that his stories are an effort to glorify the human dignity and strength when chaos becomes the order of the day. The author further explained his experience of writing a book of short stories and how his perceptive of the writing process underwent a change. He also elucidated how descriptive details in his stories are the tools through which he intends to highlight the emotional conditions of his characters. In the end, worthy chairperson of the English department, Dr Kamal Ud Din congratulated Mr Mohsin for his effort and encouraged his stance to elevate humanity through a book of short stories. Later on, Dr Kamal Ud Din presented a certificate of appreciation to the author.
